Gladell P. Paner, MD, (BS) MT
Gladell P. Paner is an Associate Professor of Pathology and Surgery (Urology), Director of Genitourinary Pathology Fellowship, and Associate Director of UC Medlabs at the University of Chicago. Gladell has about 10 years of career experience in genitourinary pathology that includes leadership roles. As an educator, he has conducted courses or has served as a speaker in renowned national and international societies including USCAP, CAP, ASCP, IAP, ESP, AUA, ASCO and EMUC, and has been honored by his residents as teacher of the year. As a strong advocate for multidisciplinary genitourinary care, Gladell has authored the popular AUA eLearning Pathology for Urologists and has been regularly presenting pathology courses for urology residents under the auspices of AUA since 2014.
For several years, Gladell has contributed to several genitourinary pathology practice guidelines and is currently heading the CAP Cancer Protocol Panel for Genitourinary Tumors, responsible for creating and reviewing our checklists for reporting cancer specimens from genitourinary organs. As a researcher, he has contributed to the 2016 WHO classification of genitourinary tumors and has so far co-authored 3 books, several book chapters, and >100 peer-reviewed publications. Gladell is the recipient of the prestigious Arthur Purdy Stout Award for 2016.
