From the PSP President
Welcome to the 68th Annual Convention of the Philippine Society of Pathologists, Inc. This year’s theme “Challenges in Pathology; Meeting the expectations”, was chosen not only to recognize the threats that our society is continually facing but to highlight opportunities for harnessing the power to overcome them.
Over the years, technological innovations have substantially improved productivity in our clinical laboratories, but the services provided by some of these clinical laboratories are increasingly becoming “commoditized” that the only distinguishing feature is the price. Over the years, at some points, our profession as pathologists has been regarded as just second rate by other professionals. These are just two of the many challenges that we Pathologists face these days. There’s a lot more.
However, how to avoid these challenges depend on how we deal with it. If only we stay cohesive, solid as one society, and we allow ourselves to be heard, nothing can go against us. Our expertise, with “personal touch” is our best weapon to meet these challenges head on.
That’s why in this annual convention notice that the lectures delivered by excellent lecturers, workshops and presentations by distinguished presenters plus the new innovations are geared towards us having a different wonderful experience while gaining the expertise we need.
This is also a time for us to make new and renew old friendships and what better venue to do this than our new home, “Conrad Hotel”, with its amazing and beautiful architecture.
I look forward to seeing all of you in our annual convention.
